First Interstate Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) awarded $718,750 in combined support to 35 nonprofit organizations across Montana.

First Interstate contributed $200,000, and FHLB Des Moines matched the gift through its Member Impact Fund.

What the Grants Support

The funding will help nonprofits provide essentials such as food, shelter and safety services. It will also support programs tied to workforce development, early childhood education and other services that help families build stability.

“We’re proud to partner with FHLB Des Moines to expand support for nonprofits that strengthen the communities we call home,” said Brian Brown, First Interstate’s eastern Montana state president.

How the Match Works

FHLB Des Moines launched the Member Impact Fund in 2023 to help member financial institutions increase local giving. The program matches donations to eligible nonprofit and public organizations, which can help local partners do more with the same community investment.

“The Member Impact Fund match helps us stretch each dollar so local organizations can keep doing the work that matters most for our neighbors,” said Shann Scott, First Interstate’s central Montana state president.

“These are organizations our teams know by name, and this partnership with FHLB Des Moines lets us support their missions in ways that matter for families across Montana,” said Brenden Craig, First Interstate’s western Montana state president.
