To further strengthen our commitment to protecting you and your financial information, we’ve launched step-up authentication in Online Banking and Online Business Banking.
This enhancement adds an additional layer of security, including for Zelle® transactions.
Step-up authentication is an added security measure that will be triggered when accessing Zelle® in Online Banking or modifying “My Settings” information in either Online Banking or Online Business Banking. Like Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), you will be asked to confirm your identity through SMS, voice/phone call, or an authenticator app. This ensures the person initiating the transaction or change is the authorized account holder.
Online Banking and Zelle® are designed for fast, convenient money movement, but speed also requires strong safeguards. Applying step-up authentication helps reduce fraud risk and protect you from unauthorized transactions.
When accessing Zelle® or modifying “My Settings” within Online Banking or Online Business Banking, you will receive a prompt to complete a quick verification step. You will only be asked to complete this step once per Online Banking session. The process is designed to be simple, secure, and seamless while adding meaningful protection. Watch these videos to see what the process will look like when using SMS, voice/phone call, or authenticator app verification.
If you have questions about Zelle® or your First Interstate Bank account, please call our Client Contact Center at 855-342-3400. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. MT and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. MT.
